Dear friend,

During my time in Congress, America has faced unprecedented challenges and unparalleled tests.

The events of September 11th have left an indelible mark on the American consciousness. The war on terror our nation now finds itself mired in, and how we choose to fight it, is our next great struggle as a society.

While we face these challenges however, we are still confronted with key domestic issues. Our civil liberties must be protected, social-security and Medicare must safeguarded, we need corporate accountability and real pension reform that protects workers and investors from unscrupulous CEOs, and the education of our children must be made paramount. This is why I am running for re-election to Congress.

With the exception of my service in the Peace Corps and my family's internment during WW II, I have spent most of my life living in and serving our community as an educator and public servant. I would be honored to receive your support to continue my public service in Congress.
